Acton-Boxborough United Way mobilizes the power of community to help our children, teens, seniors, disabled, and families. Our Community Programs support strong partnerships between human service agencies, volunteers, local business, and government. For example:

  • The ABUW Community Needs Assessment was recently completed to identify the most pressing human service needs in our community. ABUW surveyed 658 residents and community leaders to understand and assess human service needs. The Community Needs Assessment report will guide ABUW, leaders and local services providers to identify the very real challenges facing many of us and to align services with unmet needs.

  • Twice a year, ABUW Community Forums bring community and government leaders together with human service agencies. These forums enhance the understanding of developing needs and issues and foster strong working partnerships. Details from the most recent Community Forums are available.

  • The ABUW Annual Day of Caring promotes the spirit and value of volunteerism, increases the awareness of local non-profit agencies, and demonstrates what volunteers can accomplish for the community’s benefit. Each Fall, volunteers invest their time and enthusiasm to tackle projects at local agencies.

  • ABUW Youth in Philanthropy is a unique program that provides high school students with hands-experience in all aspects of community needs assessment, fundraising and grant-making in the Acton-Boxborough area. Learn more by clicking here.
